Open Access Policy

The British Research Review (BRR) operates under a full open‑access model. All published articles are made freely available online immediately upon publication, with no fees charged to readers or their institutions. Anyone may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of BRR articles, or use the material for any lawful purpose.

All content is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence. This licence permits:

  • Sharing — copying and redistributing the work in any medium or format
  • Adaptation — remixing, transforming, and building upon the work for any purpose, including commercial use

Use of the material is conditional on the following:

  • Attribution — appropriate credit must be given to the original author(s), a link to the licence must be provided, and any modifications must be indicated.
  • No additional restrictions — no legal or technological measures may be applied that restrict others from using the material in ways permitted by the licence.

The full licence text is available on the Creative Commons website.

Author Copyright

Authors publishing in BRR retain full copyright over their work. By submitting to the journal, authors grant BRR a non‑exclusive licence to publish, distribute, and archive the article in both digital and print formats.

Authors remain free to reuse their work in any form—such as in books, institutional publications, or public communication—without seeking permission from the journal. While not required, BRR encourages authors to acknowledge the original publication when reusing their material.

BRR may also use published articles for promotional or indexing purposes as part of its standard dissemination practices.

Self‑Archiving Policy

BRR supports broad dissemination of research and permits authors to deposit all versions of their manuscript in institutional or subject repositories:

  • Preprint (original submitted version)
  • Author’s Accepted Manuscript (post‑review, pre‑typeset version)
  • Version of Record (final published article)

No embargo period applies. Authors may deposit their work at any time, provided the deposited version includes a citation to the published article and a link to the BRR website.
